Hartness is a business, leadership, and management consultant with extensive corporate management experience and diverse business interests spanning health tourism, mental health and social care provision, software development, and business and management consultancy. He operates through his consultancy ventures, delivering strategic insight and practical solutions across sectors. He has led innovative work in digital transformation, including the development of AI-driven software that was awarded a £250,000 grant through an Innovate UK government initiative for innovation. A member of the Chartered Management Institute, Hartness holds a doctorate in Management and is also an accomplished scholar who has published widely in international academic journals on topics including leadership and management, professional burnout, and theology. In addition to his consulting work, Hartness mentors business owners and leaders at various levels, supporting them in both strategic and operational management. He also actively supports and mentors women in business, contributing to leadership development and enterprise growth. His approach integrates practical experience with academic insight, enabling sustainable organisational growth and leadership development.
Hartness is also engaged in global policy and trade dialogue. He participated in the World Trade Organization (WTO) 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, in 2024, and has also engaged in international trade discussions in Geneva, Switzerland, as part of the UK business delegation, representing the private sector through the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) in its engagement with the WTO. He is also a participant in the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (UN CSW) in New York in 2026, where he has taken part in various country side-line meetings and contributed to discussions on women in leadership, drawing from the journey of women in leadership within the UK NHS.
Beyond his business engagements, Hartness is an active Christian ministry leader and consultant, contributing to a range of leadership and ministry initiatives both in the UK and internationally. He serves as a guest lecturer at theological institutions, where he teaches on leadership and related subjects. He has previously served as a board member of Moorelands College, a significant theological institution in the UK, and currently serves as a board member of Pastoral Trust, which owns the academic journal Practical Theology.
